Volunteering as a teacher naturalist is a rewarding experience for those who want to enjoy the beautiful ecosystems of Bristol Woods and inspire an appreciation for nature in the next generations. No experience is necessary-if you love the outdoors and like working with kids, we will provide the rest!

If you’re interested in volunteering this year, or not sure if it’s right for you, the upcoming Teacher Naturalist Training Session is a great opportunity to learn about field trips at Pringle and get a refresher on the history and ecology of the park. The training session will take place from 12-3:30 pm on Tuesday, September 24th, and include information on teaching and managing K-8 students, field trip protocol and safety, and a nature hike covering some talking points for Pringle Nature Center and Bristol Woods. Lunch will be provided! Attending the training session does not necessarily commit you to leading field trips. Additional training and/or shadowing will be available to those volunteers who need it.

Please RSVP as soon as possible to Liz ( naturalist@pringlenc.org) and note any dietary restrictions we should be aware of for lunch. Do not hesitate to contact us with any questions. Thank you for considering this opportunity to make environmental education programming possible at Pringle!

Mission Statement

Pringle Nature Center is a regional resource where people of all ages can experience nature, environmental education, conservation and stewardship and in doing so, be inspired to become responsible stewards of the environment. We do this by "Putting People in Touch with Nature."

Description

Pringle Nature Center is an approximately 3,000 square foot building located within the 197 acre Bristol Woods County Park. The center is the gateway to environmental education in a variety of natural ecosystems located within the park. The nature center provides programming for school groups, youth organizations, families, and adults. The nature center is staffed by a full time Naturalist with help from volunteers who are dedicated to making this resource available to the community. These volunteers staff the nature center on Sundays, coordinate special events, lead programs, write grants, make up the board of directors, and much more. We always welcome new volunteers, please contact us for opportunities!
