Hospice Community Care - Richmond & Tri-Cities, The Peninsula, Middle Peninsula and Hampton Roads
Hospice Community Care has expanded into the Hampton Roads area. We are seeking dedicated Friendly Visitor volunteers to spend time with our patients in Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk or Virginia Beach.
Hospice Community Care provides dignified end-of-life care and quality services for our patients and their loved ones. As a Friendly Visitor volunteer, you would spend quality time with your patient by doing things like taking them outside (weather permitting), playing a card game or checkers, watching a classic movie together or simply providing quiet support by holding your patient's hand.
As a Friendly Visitor volunteer, you will visit your patient in whatever setting they call home; a nursing home, assisted living facility, an apartment or a house. Friendly Visitor volunteers "bring the sunshine" to their patient by being a part of the patient's life. We will work with your schedule so you might see your patient as little as once a month or as much as once a week.
To become a Friendly Visitor volunteer, you must be 18 years of age or older, be a licensed driver with current auto insurance and a clean driving records. You must take a TB which Hospice Community Care provides at no cost to you. Training is mandatory and no personal care (feeding, bathing, dressing) is involved.
Does this sound like an opportunity for you? Contact us through Volunteer Match or contact our Volunteer Coordinator at 804-290-0951. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
