Event Volunteers help to deliver a variety of different events at Root Community health center from planning and preparation to setting up and running activities on the day. It's about offering services to the East Oakland Community as well as fun and memorable for visitors and encouraging them to return.
What's Involved?
- Helping prepare for events-preparing activities, information and signage, setting up displays and activities, moving tables and chairs and so on
- Providing a warm, friendly welcome to all visitors as the public face of Roots Community
- Overseeing family activities-this might involve handing out prizes, supervising hands-on art, and assisting with games and races
- Getting visitors feedback on the event by filling in comment cards or questionnaires
- Get involved with variety of departments included food & nutrition, community healing circle, tobacco program, community service, empowerment center, and medical.
Training/Resources: Task specific training will be provided as you volunteer. You will also be asked to attend our volunteer.

Description
Founded in 2008, Roots Community Health Center is a 501(c) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the status of health in of East Bay residents. Roots implement its mission by providing high-quality, comprehensive and culturally appropriate healthcare, by implementing direct service models to increase access to care and thereby prevent the need for emergency services and by coordinating cross-agency liaisons to ensure a more efficient continuum of care in East Oakland. Roots Community Health Center was founded to address the growing need for accessible, culturally appropriate, community responsive, comprehensive health care in Oakland, California. Specially, Roots aims to eliminate wide health disparities and improve health outcomes for uninsured and low-income residents of East Oakland.
