Volunteers in this direct- service support position will lead a monthly orientation course to assist newly arrived refugees to learn about their new environment. Cultural Orientation content includes both federally mandated curriculum topics and topics that are relevant to our community here in Charlotte.
Responsibilities of this volunteer position include: Working with our case management staff to organize the logistics of the course, Cultural orientation facilitation, developing resources and transportation support.
This is a monthly volunteer position and will take place for two days during the month and last for about 4 hours each day. These days can be flexible and based on the volunteers schedule.
All cultural orientation volunteer will receive cultural orientation training.

Catholic Charities (CCDOC) Refugee Resettlement program is an affiliate of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), one of the national voluntary agencies participating in the federal government's refugee resettlement program. For the past 30 years, the CCDOC Refugee Resettlement program has embraced the mission of providing quality services and a caring support system that will empower our refugee clients to become self-sufficient, self-reliant, and productive members of society. On average, CCDOC Refugee Resettlement program resettles and supports between 350 and 400 refugees per year. All of our services are non-sectarian and do not promote any religious belief or affiliation.
