OneOC: RSVP (ages 55+) Literacy Mentors/Ushers for South Coast Repertory

OneOC hosts RSVP volunteers in local Orange County nonprofits to ensure that those most in need of education, food security, food delivery and employment receive the help they need most. RSVP volunteers choose where and how often they want to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours a month to 40 hours per week.

About RSVP Program Station: South Coast Repertory was founded in the belief that theatre is an art form with a unique power to illuminate the human experience. We commit ourselves to exploring urgent human and social issues of our time, and to combining literature, design, and performance in ways that test the bounds of theatre's artistic possibilities. We undertake to advance the art of theatre in the service of our community, and aim to extend that service through educational, intercultural, and outreach programs that harmonize with our artistic mission.

Location: Costa Mesa, CA

Volunteer Opportunity: Literacy Mentor volunteers needed after school for at risk youth theatre camps, classes, workshops, schools, and conservatory productions providing education through music theatre and the arts.

During show season, volunteers will also have scheduled Usher Volunteer duties with their choice of shows/teams. Show season can be at Segerstrom or Argyros stages. Duties include taking tickets, helping patrons find their seats, and selling items at the Theater Shop cart or in Concessions. Hours vary from Tues- Sat.

Uniform t-shirt will be provided, dress code attire is black slacks and slip free closed-toed shoes are required. Volunteers use an online scheduling system called Volgistics where you have the power to change your scheduled date to another date that would fit your schedule.

*This is a volunteer non-paid opportunity.

Hours of Volunteer Service: RSVP volunteers can give 1-40 hours weekly, Tuesday -Friday, (some Saturday events, if needed)

Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible to participate as an RSVP Volunteer, the candidate must be age 55 or older and complete a RSVP online registration.
