Volunteers are needed to lead horses or side-walk for riders with special needs in our seasonal sessions of classes.
At this time all programs have been suspended. However you are invited to reach out to register your interest in volunteering when programs resume.
Our program runs seasonal riding sessions of 4-10 weeks in length. Classes run Mon-Fri in the daytime and evenings and also on Saturdays. Each class is 45 or 60 minutes long. Volunteers arrive 30min ahead of time to prepare horses for class.
We ask volunteers to commit to at least one class per week for the duration of the season.
As a leader, you will need the ability to understand and carry out direct instructions. As a side-walker, you will need to comprehend instructions and be able to pass them on to the rider and will also need to physically assist/support the rider if needed. Both positions require physical endurance, good verbal skills and excellent comprehension. No horse experience is necessary; Hands-on orientation training is available. Volunteers must be 15 years of age or older.
New volunteers are asked to attend one of 2-hour orientation training session .
