Do you have a green thumb or enjoy getting outdoors? The Museums are looking for a group of volunteers for weeding, trimming, and all manner of beautifying for just ONE HOUR each week. Help keep the Kopp Memorial Pollinator Garden and the Museum campus beautiful! We seek both a "team leader" to help Museum staff plan and oversee the Green Team as well as "worker bees" to help each week. In the past, the Green Team has met on Wednesday afternoons from 4 -5 p.m. but this year we would like to hear from people interested in helping before setting any dates and times.
The Date and Time for the Green Team will be determined based on volunteer availability. If you are interested in being part of the Green Team please call (608) 348-3301 or email museums@platteville.org.
We will continue to follow public health and safety guidelines throughout the season. Volunteers will be spread out while on projects. We encourage volunteers to wear cloth face coverings and bring their own gardening gloves.
Volunteers keep your museum thriving!

Mission Statement
The mission of The Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums is to continue in the pursuit of excellence in the areas of regional and mining history. To achieve that purpose, the museums are commissioned to be a custodian of the past; to interpret the rich lead and zinc mining heritage of the region, as well as to preserve, interpret, and display the artifacts that define Southwest Wisconsin.
Description
The Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums are located on Main Street in Platteville, Wisconsin, in the heart of the historic Upper Mississippi Valley lead-zinc mining region. The Museums trace the development of culture in southwestern Wisconsin's Driftless Area starting with mineral mining, rural life, and the establishment of community. Galleries display fascinating and nostalgic models, dioramas, artifacts and photographs interpreting stories and music of home, school, farm and civic life in the Platteville region. Visitors tour exhibits of local history and mining, go underground and tour the 1845 Bevans Mine, and ride our 1931 mining train through the museum campus.
