On Thursday, September 19th, join Adelante Mujeres and Wieden & Kennedy in downtown Portland for our "La Lucha" Monthly Giving Launch party! La Lucha translates to "The Fight."

By volunteering at the Launch Event, you will grow the La Lucha movement-- a passionate group of Luchadores, or warriors for good, who are making a difference for Latina women in our community.

La Lucha monthly gifts will ensure stability and strength for Adelante Mujeres and our programs so that our team can focus on the people we serve.

We need your help! This event wouldn't happen without the help of our wonderful community volunteers.

Who: We are seeking volunteers to help with check-in and our La Lucha Monthly Giving sign-up tables. Volunteers will be expected to greet event guests, help direct guests through the check-in process, and assist with sign-up for any members who are interested in becoming monthly donors. This is a great opportunity for volunteers to learn more about our mission and how we are working to empower lives in our surrounding communities.

What: La Lucha Launch Event at Wieden & Kennedy

When: Thursday, September 19th, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 PM (Volunteers will be asked to arrive 30-45 minutes before the start of the event for training)

Where: Wieden & Kennedy; 224 NW 13th Ave, Portland, OR 97209

Other: Appetizers and drinks will be available to volunteers and event guests. Volunteers are expected to dress in business casual.

The event will host Latina-made cuisine, drinks, a Latino art exhibit, a panel discussion with women that we serve, and more -- all in the name of empowering Latinas in our community to lead. Free and open to the public. Don't miss it!

Mission Statement

We're on a mission to build a more just society by empowering Latinas to lead. Adelante Mujeres provides holistic education and empowerment opportunities to low income Latina women and their families to ensure full participation and active leadership in the community.

Description

Adelante Mujeres was founded in 2002 by Bridget Cooke and Sister Barbara Raymond. Through their work in other local organizations, Bridget and Barbara noticed that Latina women did not actively participate in the programs. They founded Adelante Mujeres to empower these women, who were often relegated to the home. As the founders suspected, when presented the opportunity to attend a program focused on and developed for women, these same women quickly found their voices. For over 10 years, Adelante Mujeres has served western Washington County by providing holistic education and empowerment opportunities to low income Latina women and their families, in order to ensure full participation and active leadership in the community.
