Event Description: Join our Parks Maintenance Heavy Construction Crew as we backfill gravel around some
of our heaviest used picnic shelters.

This event will take place on October 18th at Lake wheeler and on October 29th at Pullen Park.

Volunteer Duties: Volunteers will be using wheelbarrows, shovels, and other tools to move gravel around our picnic shelters and leveling out the ground.

Volunteer Impact: This project will help to make our picnic shelters safer by removing gaps between the foundation and the ground that could cause a tripping hazard. These shelters are heavily used for birthday parties and picnics and we want to make sure everyone enjoy our parks in a safe manner.

Work Environment: This event will be outside so there may be the opportunity of some uneven ground. This will also be a very physical project. we will be working outside and we work rain or shine, If there is sever weather we will cancel the afternoon before the project. There will be bathrooms on site.

Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. All volunteers will need to fill out a release form.

Special Instructions: Volunteers need to wear clothing that can get dirty and sturdy closed-toe shoes such as sneakers or hiking boots. We will supply tools, gloves, snacks, water, sunscreen, bug spray, and a first aid kit.
