Young Authors Greenhouse is an non-profit organization that works with youth in Louisville Kentucky. Our mission is to use writing as a tool to amplify youth voices in our community. Volunteers are an important part of our organizational model. At Young Authors Greenhouse, our volunteers help to provide one - on - one support to the students we serve through our programming. Every year, we publish a book with student writing called Young Authors Book Project. This year, we are creating an anthology of young voices across Louisville from three different schools. One of the programs - called Girlhood in Color - will be for young middle-school aged girls of color where they will write poetry and non-fiction based on their experiences. Our volunteers will be important for mentoring, conferencing with students on their writing, and creating a supportive atmosphere:

Dates and Times:

Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:45-4:00pm.

September: 17, 19, 24, 26

October: 1, 3, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, 31

November: 7, 12, 14, 19, 21

December: 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19

We are a nonprofit organization in Louisville, KY that inspires students ages 6 - 18 from under-resourced communities to grow their imaginations through writing--to see minds open and pencils move. We fulfill our mission through writing and publishing programs, creative partnerships with schools, and a community of engaged volunteers.

Description

We provide in-school writing and publishing projects and after-school tutoring, writing, and publishing programs.

We are also always looking for designers, editors, carpenters, and creative thinkers. If you have an idea for how you can be a part of our work, we want to hear it!
