Pet therapy volunteers are wanted to join the Bridges Hospice volunteer team! Pet therapy has such a positive impact on our patients. Not only does it provide support, companionship and unconditional love, it mainly uplifts the spirits of our patients. This opportunity is very flexible and so fulfilling! Just taking the time once or twice a month to visit your assigned patient with your furry friend will make someone's entire week. If you have a well behaved pet that you think would enjoy making visits to brighten our patients' days, this is an opportunity for you. This opportunity takes place in private homes or in multiple nursing facilities within your area. Patient assignments are made based on location convenient to you, so you don't have to worry about a far commute.

Bridges Hospice strives to empower their patients, families and caregivers with the tools, education and support needed to make informed decisions during the last phases of life. The physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients are met through an individualized, ethical plan of care focused on the patient and their family.
Description
Bridges Hospice was founded by two local nurses with over twenty years of hospice experience. They wanted to return to the basic principles of hospice care and separate themselves from the corporate environment style of hospice. Hospice is anything but corporate, it’s very personal and a very significant time in a patient’s life, as well as the lives of their loved ones.
We take pride in our community, in being local, and having non-corporate based services. We serve Pittsburgh and the surrounding region. We don’t have to follow corporate protocols from an office located in another city - we’re able to modify our care to each individual patient, because every single individual IS different, and deserves a specially tailored care plan suited to their needs. Being local and independent means Bridges can respond more efficiently to the needs and concerns of those that we serve.
At Bridges, we believe hospice should focus on an environment where compassionate care and the comfort of the patient comes before all else. We’re available 24/7 to provide care and support.
