Career Center Support
Dress for Success Bakersfield offers a myriad of programs providing tools and resources that enable women to achieve self-sufficiency. These include: Suits to Success (professional attire for interviews and employment); The Career Center (mentors who provide experienced guidance through the job search process); Computer Literacy (online training in Microsoft suite of programs); Financial Literacy (focusing on banking, credit and budgeting); Career Readiness Programs (providing all tools and support to obtain a new career) and Empower Women's Group (Professional development and support group for DFSB clients). Our programs are always offered at no charge clients. They often include meals and childcare as well.
Women are referred to DFSB by other nonprofit organizations. All of DFSB's funding is through individual donations and grants.
Volunteers will assist clients with resume preparation and mock interview practice. As well as online job searches, master job applications and other technical activities. Computer proficiency required. Requested time commitment is 4 hours per week on a regularly scheduled basis, so that we can schedule specific clients during that time.

Our purpose is to offer long-lasting solutions that enable women to break the cycle of poverty. Dress for Success is part of a global movement for change, empowering women to obtain safer and better futures.
We provide each client with professional attire to secure employment, but we are about much more than simply a new outfit. Besides physically equipping the client with apparel and accessories, our programs furnish her with a confidence that she carries forever and the knowledge that she can actively define her life, the direction she takes and what success means to her.
