Haskell Clean Up

Be one of 70,000 people across California to participate in Coastal Cleanup Day! Thanks to volunteers around the world, the International Coastal Cleanup has become a beacon of hope, leading and inspiring action in support of our ocean. Over the years, this movement has created a family that spans oceans and country borders. A network that works together for something bigger than us

Start the day by helping the San Fernando Valley Audubon and Heal the Bay clean up Haskell Creek, where it runs through the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve. By removing litter from this important watershed, flora and fauna native to the area will be able to thrive in a cleaner, healthier environment.

Afterwards, join Resource Conservation District Environmental Educators as they share their knowledge and love of the Los Angeles River. Learn about the wildlife lake by testing its water quality and viewing live plankton through microscopes. Use binoculars to view the unique birds that call the wildlife basin home. Visit booths and go on a hike to learn more about enjoying the L.A River!

If you are volunteering to help clean up the creek, please be sure to wear durable shoes (NO FLIP FLOPS), bring clothes you are willing to get dirty in, wear ample sunscreen, and dress in layers, as California weather can be unpredictable! No need to bring a reusable water bottle because we will be giving them out FOR FREE!

If you would like to RSVP to this event please do so on this site or email the RCDSMM's Education and Communication Specialist at akahler@rcdsmm.org!
