Homeward Alliance operates a continuum of programs and initiatives, ranging from critical survival gear, to employment services, to homelessness prevention. They are not only an alliance of services, but also an alliance of volunteers, donors, agency partners and other community stakeholders. They envision a community in which homelessness is rare, short-lived and non-recurring.
One of the programs operated by Homeward Alliance is One Village One Family. One Village One Family (OVOF) program empowers families who are homeless to regain stability, secure permanent housing and achieve self-sufficiency. OVOF matches families experiencing homelessness with volunteer teams, or "villages." Those villages raise money to help families get into housing (e.g. security deposit) and then provide about six months of ongoing, structured support.
If you are an individual interested in joining others to become a village, or if you a already a part of a group who would like to help as a village, we'd love to talk more about how to get involved, the impact you will make, and answer questions you might have!
