Global Green is seeking help from a professional volunteer with a background in project management and/or research to a) conduct a literature and web review of existing "sustainable neighborhood" initiatives in Texas and b) identify what resources are available for neighborhoods to implement projects in areas such as energy, water, transit and waste with an emphasis an approaches that also address equity and housing affordability. The Resilient Neighborhood Initiative is addressing a disadvantaged communities’ ability to rebuild once being devastated by climate change. Here's more background on our work nationally:

This initiative will bring technical assistance to four cities in order to improve their resilience when facing the impacts of climate change. The collaboration is creating models of adaptation and acclimation to improve community health and resilience, and builds on prior work funded by US EPA in 30 cities that assisted building over 30 projects and $280 million in funding. Global Green is re-booting this project and starting with the next set of 4 neighborhoods. In California, we're seeking to address the intersection with fire resilience along with our affiliate in Australia: https://www.globalgreen.org/blog/wildfireprevention
The output of volunteer research projects is typically a 10 slide deck; 1-2 page summary and/or a guest blog on globalgreen.org.

Mission Statement
Global Green USA is the American affiliate of Green Cross International. For 25 years, Global Green USA has been a national leader in advancing smart solutions to climate change that improve lives and protect our planet. We create transformative model projects and advance new policies that build sustainable and resilient communities and affordable housing. We help local governments, schools, and public agencies integrate sustainable design, clean energy, and water reduction measures and we help people reduce waste, live better, and act more sustainably today--and in the future.
Description
Global Green has influenced more than $20 billion dollars worth of building construction by encouraging the integration of green building and sustainability practices, and we’ve educated millions of people about climate-friendly solutions through our five annual events, including the green event of the year, our Pre-Oscar Party. Our impact has been felt across the country, particularly in areas affected by disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans where we led green rebuilding efforts and continue to provide assistance and resources to local residents.
