Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Global Green USA

Global Green is seeking help from a professional with a background in research, journalism and/or market assessments to conduct an initial review of programs and policies that relate to the combined issues of environmental sustainability and housing displacement / rising rents. The deliverable will be a list of case studies and some basic commentary of the broader context that these examples provide or fit in. The deliverable will be in the form of a 1-2 page summary and/or deck. A guest blog by the volunteer is optional.

The cost of housing is listen as one of the key stressors in the United States - particularly for low to moderate income communities. As an environmental non-profit, we're seeking to orientate our programming to respond to and align with the biggest challenges facing people in the US and globally. This volunteer role will provide initial research in this area to help us identify models for future programming and technical assistance to cities and communities.

We've identified some initial models related to our sustainable neighborhoods program nationally. For more information on this program, please see here: https://www.globalgreen.org/blog/sna2019 The completed work by the volunteer will be integrated into this program.

Global Green has influenced more than $20 billion dollars worth of building construction by encouraging the integration of green building and sustainability practices, and we’ve educated millions of people about climate-friendly solutions through our five annual events, including the green event of the year, our Pre-Oscar Party. Our impact has been felt across the country, particularly in areas affected by disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans where we led green rebuilding efforts and continue to provide assistance and resources to local residents.
