We are seeking a female volunteer to work with a 19-year-old female refugee youth from Eritrea. The youth was resettled as an unaccompanied refugee minor after she escaped violence and being drafted into the army in Eritrea. She is currently living and studying at the Job Corps Center. Her case manager stated that the youth is "friendly, approachable, and shy, but opens up to those she's close to." The case manager also shared the following, "The youth has a difficult time with change. She does voice her concerns and advocates for herself. She likes going out and shopping. She sticks to her cultural food and has recently tried opening up to different foods. A mentor would be very helpful to improve her social skills and interactions with others. This would benefit her by helping her reach out to others in the community and building strong relationships with her peers."
