Bread & Roses Thrift Store
Our thrift store is located at 840 E. Main Street and takes its name from the successful Bread and Roses strike that took place in 1912 in the textile mills of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Nearly 30,000 people walked out. Some of the women carried banners, quoting a phrase from a poem, "We want bread and roses too!". The thrift store is currently open 6 days a week and provides on-going funding and clothing for Utah’s Place as well as shelter guests the opportunity for retail job training.
The Front of the House Specialist is responsible for processing donations for sale by preparing, organizing, pricing, cleaning, and disposing of items in the back of the house as well as providing excellent customer service, light housekeeping, and helping with day-to-day operations throughout the store. All Bread & Roses volunteer staff members are expected to share the Foothill House of Hospitality mission with shoppers and general public as appropriate.
