The Park Authority's award-winning Adapted Aquatics Program is an individualized swimming and water activity program for adults and children with physical and developmental disabilities. Program offerings include learn-to-swim classes, aquatic exercise classes, and training for Special Olympics and Paralympic Swim team competition. Volunteers will assist certified instructors in the pool. Experience not necessary, but must know how to swim and be comfortable in the pool. You will get in the pool to support students during class. Locations and shifts vary - please email for more information.

Description

The FCPA RECenter Volunteer Program includes 9 RECenters within Fairfax County and Park Authority Headquarters. Fairfax County Park Authority operates 5 nature centers, a horticultural center, a working historic farm and multiple historic properties.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 14
  • Once a week for approximately six to eight weeks. Each class is 1 to 3 hours long. Saturdays or Sundays, depending on location.
  • Comfortable in the pool, willingness and compassion working with people with disabilities.
