The Hope Clinic Community Engagement Team is looking for a volunteer to increase our presence on relevant media platforms including, radio, press, television, online groups and boards, social media and community newsletters. The volunteer will collaborate closely with the Hope Communications Manager to identify local information outlets, build contacts list and deepen relationships. The volunteer will also become familiar with Hope Clinic and assist in identifying press opportunities that are appropriate to share with the public. As the role expands, the volunteer will track press coverage and response, so as to assist in determining where to prioritize Hope’s focus. In this role we are looking for someone who is creative, outgoing and comfortable with basic web applications like email and social media, as well as Microsoft Office.
Once equipped and trained, the volunteer should be confident:
- Sharing information about Hope’s programs and opportunities
- Writing press releases
- Conducting independent research about local media and best practices in media relations
- Reaching out to new people via phone and email
- Following up on questions, including tracking down answers from relevant Hope staff
The volunteer will collaborate closely with the Communications Manager to develop the role and gather the tools they need. Expectation is 2-5 hours a week, as needed. Timing is flexible and some volunteer work can be done from home. Questions? Contact Hope Communications Manager Emmeline Weinert at eweinert@thehopeclinic.org
