Help Kids Succeed: Be A Homework Helper at the Pico Branch Library

Position Overview: This is an opportunity to help students who are struggling in school and to give them the confidence they need to succeed. Homework helpers will work with students on homework assignments, and/or help with reading and math practice.
Responsibilities:
- Work with students in grades 1-8 for 20 minute sessions at the Pico Branch Library located at 2201 Pico Blvd.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently and clearly
- Possess patience, flexibility, and excellent oral communication skills
- Must want to work with children and teens (experience working with children and teens a plus)
- Fingerprint clearance is required
- Must be in high school or older
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is desirable
Training Provided:
- Homework Helpers will attend an orientation
- All materials provided free of charge
- Individual assistance from Youth Services staff is available
- We are now accepting applications for the 2019 - 2020 School Year

Time Commitment: 8 months, Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-6:00 pm
Potential volunteers will go through an applicant screening and interview process. We regret that we will not be able to accept all tutor applicants into the program.
