Welcome to Teen Feed
Volunteers Make the Difference.

Help us express our gratitude! Teen Feed is currently looking for a detail oriented, hard-working individual to fill our Stewardship Intern position. This intern will gain industry experience in a non-profit that supports the basic needs of youth experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. Donors are an essential part of how Teen Feed functions. Without them, the organization wouldn’t exist. The Stewardship Intern supports our donor segment by recognizing donor patterns, customizing stewardship efforts, and helping Teen Feed express our gratitude to these donors. If you are interested building your resume while understanding how stewardship functions in the non-profit sector, as well as learning about youth homelessness, reach out to us!

Description

Teen Feed at a Glance
Teen Feed works with the community to offer support to meet basic needs, build strong relationships, and ally with homeless youth as they meet their future off the streets. With the tremendous support of the community, Teen Feed responds to the most basic needs of homeless youth with integrated programs: Teen Feed Meal Program, Street Talk Outreach Program (STOP), and Service Links for Youth (SLY).

Thanks to your partnership in 2015 Teen Feed:

  • Opened its doors to 50 - 80 youth each night
  • Offered over 20,000 nutritious meals to hungry youth
  • connected with over 600 individual youth in need
  • worked with over 800 volunteers, who donated over $130,000 in food

History

In 1987, nurses from the University of Washington Medical Center noticed that many street youth accessing the emergency room were severely malnourished. The community responded, and faith groups, service providers, and neighbors came together to provide food to the University District’s homeless youth population. Teen Feed was born, and now we average 40-50 guests each evening. Teen Feed is the only provider of meals specifically to youth and young adults in the University District open regularly every night of the week.
