Role description: This team meets one-on-one with clients who are requesting financial assistance to help them connect with resources available at Western Wake Crisis Ministry as well as in the community at large. These volunteers assess the need and verify eligibility, research clarifying information (call utility or landlord), document the meeting and decisions in our online database as well as our paper filing system. These individuals listen compassionately and seek to find ways to partner with the clients they meet with to find supports for them.
Skills needed: Compassion, discerning good listening, non-judgmental interviewing, attention to detail, computer skills to manage our online database, fax, email, and internet research.
Training will be provided in: Client interaction training, role-specific training, and optional mental health first aid.
Expectations of volunteers: Weekly commitment to volunteer. Attend monthly volunteer meetings, and optional monthly group supervision.
