ABOUT THE ROLE
Abandoned Pet Project Rescue is a volunteer-run rescue group that pulls animals at risk of euthanasia from
shelters in the DFW area. Since we do not have a facility, we rely solely on volunteers who open their homes
as foster parents for the foster pets in need. As a foster representative, you will be the initial point of contact
for our foster parents throughout the whole foster lifecycle. As a foster representative, you will conduct
regular email (and/or phone) check-ins with your foster families and assist them with any questions or
concerns regarding behavioral and medical issues that may arise. You will work as a liaison between the
foster parent and our internal Foster, Medical, and Adoption teams. In addition to managing the
foster/rescue relationship, you will be responsible for the gathering and record management of foster
marketing information and medical paperwork in order to make sure our animals are marketed for adoption
on our website and medically cleared for adoption and events.
Responsibilities may include:
● Managing the relationship with 5-20 foster families at any given time. Work load is determined
based on foster representative preference.
● Consistent check in with foster families via email and at times via phone. Check ins will be more
frequent in the beginning of the process and then regress as the foster becomes more familiar
with the process.
● Collection of marketing materials (photos, videos and biography information such as profile
form) and medical paperwork and uploading to Shelterluv internal database.
● Publishing marketing material to adoption website through Shelterluv.
● Review medical records and log all pertinent information in Shelterluv and Foster Worksheet
and in ShelterLuv as needed.
● Determine medical items needed for adoption, transport, and event eligibility.
● Ensure that your foster animal is medically up to date and act as a liaison between medical
team and foster parent.
● Communicate with and support foster parents regarding medical needs, timelines, vet
appointments, and changes in adoption, transport, or event eligibility.
● Assist in troubleshooting any issues with the foster pet, including training advice, and medical
issues.
● Refer any issues beyond the scope of this function in a timely manner and to the foster or
medical director.

Team Involvement:
This position reports to the Foster Director, Medical Director, and Executive Director. This individual will work
closely with other foster representatives, foster parents, medical team, transport team, and adoption team.

Mission Statement

APPR: Abandoned Pet Project Rescue is dedicated to creating positive outcomes for the overlooked, abandoned, and often injured animals whose medical treatments are funded by Abandoned Pet Project. Through adoptions and transport partnerships with like-minded rescues across the nation, Abandoned Pet Project Rescue provides the opportunity for our pets to live happy and healthy lives in loving, forever homes. APP: Abandoned Pet Project is dedicated to providing the funding for abandoned, abused, and homeless pets so they may receive the medical care they need. We are a non profit organization that supports a network of fosters, veterinarians, community outreach projects, and spay/neuter initiatives. Our veterinary partners work diligently to rehabilitate shelter animals and offer their communities medical assistance through low cost vaccine clinics, microchipping, and spay & neuter assistance for area animals.

Description

Abandoned Pet Project was founded in 2016 to assist a network of veterinarians and their rescues partners to enable them to save medically needy animals, while also contributing to the area community through outreach events such as low costs clinics. In 2019 we added on Abandoned Pet Project Rescue in order to create an even larger impact to the animals and people of our communities through further outreach events, fostering, and local adoption, as well as transport opportunities for animals in an effort to save more lives.
