NAMI LONG BEACH AREA

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979 has blossomed into the nation's leading voice on mental health. Today, we are an association of more than 500 local affiliates who work in your community to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need.

Mental health is the on everyone's minds. Yet so few people know where to go for support and services.
We need your help to spread awareness and help connect people with support. Are you a social media phenom? Do you know how to gain followers? Increase traffic? Are you looking for a project that will truly make a diffrence? Please contact NAMI Long Beach and help us make this issue go viral.

Mission Statement

NLBA supports people with mental illness and their families by helping them to find coping mechanisms for daily struggles, including mental health support groups, classes, workshops, and special events. We educate people who have mental illness, their families, caregivers, and the community at large in order to improve resources, services, and knowledge by reducing misinformation. We promote conversation in our community to remove stigmas that are often associated with mental illness. NBLA works with community-based organizations, families, caregivers, health organizations, business, law enforcement, legal advocacy, schools, and youth organizations. We advocate for more research leading to eradication of mental illness and promote social policy that includes expanded services and improved treatment for our loved ones leading to an improved system of mental health services across the nation.
