There are few volunteer service experiences which provide the opportunity for grace and illumination like providing support to a hospice patient. Patience, compassion, nonjudgment, presence, openness, kindness, and gratitude...we see our own very best qualities revealed and shared as we give companionship to those nearing the end of their lives.

At Gentiva Hospice, our patient visiting volunteers provide conversation and supportive companionship, leisure activities, or a quiet, caring presence. We encourage our volunteers to share their special interests in reading; craft work and art; music; life review such as recording oral histories and scrapbooking; and more. Being a Gentiva Hospice volunteer means being part of an interdisciplinary team that focuses on the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families. Gentiva Hospice offers an extensive orientation and ongoing support for all of our volunteers.
