The American Dream School is a bilingual middle school in Mott Haven, a predominantly Latino neighborhood in the South Bronx. We need committed volunteers to join our after school homework help program. Many of our students are behind academically, and quality time with an adult can make a major difference in their academic trajectories. Volunteer shifts are on Monday/Wednesday OR Tuesday/Thursday from 3:45pm-4:45pm and last from September-December or September-June. Volunteers should feel comfortable working with a middle schooler (ages 10-15) on homework spanning basic math, science, and English. Although we are in the South Bronx, we are conveniently located only two stops on the six train from the 125th Street - Harlem station. Description
The American Dream School is a South Bronx based bilingual middle and high school primarily supporting the children of Central American immigrants. Core aspects of our program include project-based learning, an advisory program, and culturally responsive instruction.
