The Y believes that everyone deserves access to healthy foods. Therefore, we have partnered with Harvesters, Olathe Medical Center and KVC to ensure that our community has access not just to food, but the right kinds of food.
On the first Wednesday of the month, anyone can come to the Olathe YMCA food distribution to obtain fresh produce and food of high nutritional quality.
In order to improve access to healthy foods, mobile food pantry volunteers will play a crucial role in distributing food and supplies to our neighbors in need. The mobile pantry will be set up in the parking lot of the YMCA and will require volunteers assistance with set up, distribution, participant data collection, and clean up. Volunteers will be offered training prior to volunteering at the distribution and this opportunity is open to individuals of all ages.
Volunteers will report at 1:00 pm and arrange and sort palettes of food to prepare for distribution to individuals cars. The actual distribution will start at 2:00 pm and run until 3:30 pm or until we run out of food.
