Mothers' Club Family Learning Center
Through literacy and education, we help at-risk families break the cycle of poverty

We need a few good volunteers to help clean up our neighborhood and our organization!
As our school year is about to start, we want to have a clean and welcoming environment for our families to come and feel safe in.

Opportunities on this day will include:
- a walk-around community clean up, where volunteers will pick up trash off the street and in local parks to make sure our surrounding streets are clean!
- a thorough clean up of our organization, to help prepare us for a great school year (may include cleaning windows, tables, chairs, shredding papers, etc)
- preparing materials for preschool classroom projects
- clearing an area for a new garden on site

If you are interested in making a difference in your community and ensuring a preschool that serves low-income families has the strong support of our neighbors and friends, please consider dropping by for an hour or two to help set us up for a year of success!

ALL AGES ARE WELCOME!

About Families Forward Learning Center

Location:

980 North Fair Oaks Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91103, US

Mission Statement

Families Forward Learning Center prepares families isolated by poverty, lack of education and inadequate social support to succeed in school and in life by increasing the skills and education of both mother and child.

Description

Families Forward is built on two guiding principles: in order for significant, long-term change to occur within an at-risk family, you must reach both parent and child and educate them together; and, the most critical time to reach a family is when children are proven to be most vulnerable and impressionable, between birth and 5 years-old.

Our clientele are English-learning, low-income mothers in the Pasadena community. They take intensive literacy and parenting skills courses onsite, gaining critical skills in English and learning to be their child's most important teacher. Simultaneously, their children are also on site, playing, learning, and thriving in our early childhood program (ages six weeks to five years).

Our services prepare children for kindergarten and empower mothers to help their children succeed in school and in life.
