Want to make a difference?
Want to make a difference in the lives of both people and animals? Through this remarkable organization, you can help New York City’s most vulnerable residents, many of whom are homebound seniors and/or sufferers of illness or disability, in their efforts to keep their pets in spite of financial and/or physical obstacles. Your efforts will not only allay people’s loneliness and promote their physical health and emotional wellbeing, but save countless animals from being placed in shelters, a number of whom would likely be euthanized. Whether you want to make house calls to clients or coordinate and deliver food and supply packages to them, there may be something here for you. There are pet and people pairs in need across all boroughs.
Guess what?! There are even more great opportunities for volunteers 55 and older in all 5 boroughs!
RSVP works with over 250 other partner organizations as well. If this opportunity is not for you, we can help you find another that is. Attend one of our Learn and Link events or schedule a placement interview today!
**Please note: all RSVP volunteer opportunities are for individuals 55 and older; also, most assignments are with our partners located across the City**
About Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)/CSSNYC
633 Third Avenue, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10017, US
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) was started in 1966 by the Community Service Society (CSS), an over 170-year-old nonprofit agency. CSS's mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems. CSS will focus on enabling, empowering and promoting opportunities for poor families and individuals to develop their full potential, to contribute to society, and to realize social, economic and political opportunities.
RSVP matches adults 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities at New York City nonprofits. With more than 2,300 volunteers, RSVP in New York City is one of the largest senior volunteer programs in the nation. There are over 600 RSVPs which operate nationally and many that do so internationally. We match volunteers on the basis of interests and abilities, community needs, geographic convenience, and experience.
We'll work with your schedule.
