The Riverside County Library’s Literacy Program is actively seeking volunteer English as a Second Language tutors throughout Riverside County to provide an invaluable service. As an ESL tutor, you will receive free training covering all aspects of working with a student whose first language is not English. ESL tutors generally work with roughly 5-12 students in a group setting. We assess the students you will be paired with to determine the appropriate level of instructional materials. You will be given training on how to best teach your students what he or she needs to attain self-determined goals and develop confidence in speaking, reading and writing in English.
There is no educational requirement, nor need to speak a second language, in order to be a volunteer ESL tutor in the Riverside County Library System’s Literacy Program. If you have proficient reading and writing skills in English and want to share your enthusiasm for literacy, this is a great opportunity to work in your community. All training and materials for this additional volunteer tutoring activity is provided by the Library’s Literacy Program.
