Policy and Economics Researcher Needed for Resiliency Initiative

ORGANIZATION: Global Green USA

Global Green is seeking help from a volunteer with a background in research, journalism and/or economics or finance to conduct a review of PACE in California.

Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing: Allows incremental cost of energy-efficient and climate-resilient reconstruction to be covered through financing secured by an incremental property tax assessment. In some cases, ongoing savings to owners (whose energy bills would be negligible) more than cover payments due under PACE financing. PACE could help California build a more resilient real estate market while providing a boost to local job market. Commercial property assessed clean energy (CPACE) financing also can be used to fund improvements that make buildings more resilient.

This review will further assistance our work with technical assistance to municipalities nationwide so they can learn form successful examples in California of policy and business practices, and also for sharing best practices within California. For more information on Global Green's sustainable neighborhood program, please see here:

The output of this work is a 1-2 page summary and/or a 10 slide deck. Volunteers also have the option of posting guest articles related to their research on globalgreen.org. An example of a past guest blog by a volunteer is here: https://www.globalgreen.org/blog/wildfireprevention

Global Green has influenced more than $20 billion dollars worth of building construction by encouraging the integration of green building and sustainability practices, and we’ve educated millions of people about climate-friendly solutions through our five annual events, including the green event of the year, our Pre-Oscar Party. Our impact has been felt across the country, particularly in areas affected by disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans where we led green rebuilding efforts and continue to provide assistance and resources to local residents.
