About us:

We’re an independent non-profit agency that builds, develops, acquires, and manages low- and moderate-income housing in Palo Alto and the San Francisco Bay Area. We provide high-quality, safe housing; subsidize rents to the greatest degree possible, and support our residents in reaching their goals through our Resident Services program. We are searching for volunteers to help us strengthen our services and further our mission!

YOUTH TUTOR:

Youth Tutors are needed a minimum of 1 afternoon per week. Students need support in reading, math, and science. Students range in age from elementary to high school. *Please specify which age group you feel most comfortable working with.

Our ideal volunteer:

  • Has experience with subjects being tutored
  • Is positive, patient, and caring
  • Cares about youth development and community

Mission Statement

Alta Housing is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop, acquire, and manage low- and moderate- income housing in Palo Alto, California and the San Francisco Bay Area. Our Resident Services Program aims to empower resident families to build self-reliance by providing onsite services in education, health and social services.

Description

Alta manages over 700 units of affordable housing for low-income families and seniors. Alta strives to provide service enriched housing to its residents by offering a comprehensive services program. We provide resources, art classes, ESL classes, computer training, and afterschool programs in addition to community-building activities.
