Do your part to keep our drinking water clean! Spend a morning removing trash from a tributary to Loch Raven Reservoir.

Volunteers are needed to clean a section of Beaverdam Run in Cockeysville. This clean-up project is part of the Stream Watch Program sponsored by the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC) in partnership with the Baltimore County Dept. of Environmental Protection and Sustainability, and funded by Maryland American Water.

EVENT INFORMATION

Date: Saturday, September 7, 2019

Time: Please arrive by9:45 am to sign in. Clean up begins at 10:00 am and goes to 1:00 pm.

Location: Parking lot at the end of Beaver Run Lane in Cockeysville. Take I-83 N to Warren Road (Exit 18). Stay on Warren Road for about a mile. Turn left onto York Road. Turn right onto Beaver Run Lane in 0.8 mile. For reference, Andy Nelson’s BBQ is on York Road immediately after Beaver Run Lane.

What to wear: Work gloves will be provided. Hiking boots are strongly recommended for this site. Wear pants, long sleeve top, and hat. Bring rain gear, water bottle, and tick repellent.

The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC) is a Baltimore County-based land trust and watershed restoration non-profit that mobilizes people and resources to care for the lands, waters and character of the Gunpowder Watershed.

Description

Get your hands dirty for clean water! GVC needs volunteers like YOU to achieve our vision of healthy lands, healthy waterways, and healthy communities within the Gunpowder Watershed. We work with volunteers of all ages, as well as individuals, families, or groups. Our volunteer opportunities are eligible for community service learning hours.

Join us for a meaningful environmental stewardship activity such as tree planting, tree maintenance (removing invasive plants), or stream clean-up.
