SPARC is seeking volunteers for its afterschool program. Volunteers will assist K_5 students with homework as well as enrichment activities. We operate from 2:45 - 6 pm according to the Gwinnett County Public Schools Calendar. We serve 30 students who typically perform below grade level. Our emphasis is on reading and math. Volunteers will help with homework, provide tutoring, read to students. listen to students read, assist with spelling and math bee prep, serve snack and a host of other activities.
Volunteers must have their own transportation and a love for working with children.

Description
The Single Parent Alliance & Resource Center (SPARC) was incorporated as a community based non profit 501(c)3 agency in 2001. Since its inception, it has worked diligently to improve the lives of single parent families in its community. SPARC is dedicated to supporting single parents in their efforts to raise happy, healthy, well adjusted, successful children.
Additionally, SPARC has launched an afterschool program located at the Bradford Gwinnett Apartment Homes in Norcross, GA. The SPARC Kids Academy serves students in grades K-5, Monday through Friday from 3-6 pm. Its focus is on academic achievement, with an emphasis on homework help, skill building, and enrichment. In addition, because of the success of the afterschool program, it also offers The SPARC Kids Summer Academy, a full-day academic enrichment summer camp offered for eight weeks, Monday through Friday, 9 am-5 pm.
SPARC also offers several programs for single parents including support groups, parent support, leadership development and Achievement Clubs designed to reward parents for achieving goals.

- We prefer our volunteers to set a schedule. There is no minimum. We simply prefer you select your day/days and stick to that. Incentives are awarded if you serve enough hours.
