ORGANIZATION: TWP-The Youth Movement

Job Duties:

Collaborate with management staff on the preparation of the annual budget by developing a revenue forecast, expenditure estimates, and personnel costs for full-time and part-time staff plus contract employees.

Post transactions to QuickBooks (for Nonprofits) from bank accounts, PayPal and credit card statements.

Reconcile bank statements and credit card statements.

Generate timely and accurate monthly financial statements from QuickBooks.

Prepare a monthly financial summary report for management staff. Compare actual income and expenses with budget and make appropriate recommendations. Develop a set of performance indicators to help management staff gauge monthly and year-to-date financial performance.

Prepare and present a financial report to the TWP Board of Directors at their quarterly board meetings.

Assist management staff in the preparation of budgets for grant applications. These budgets may include both an overall budget as well as a grant project budget. Submit quarterly and final financial reports as required by each grantor.

Assist management staff in the preparation of ad hoc budgets for various events and projects that are not related to grant opportunities.

Develop appropriate fees for program service activities. Assist the Executive Director in developing a service contract or a Memorandum of Understanding for new program service initiatives.

Ensure that invoices are submitted in a timely manner for the reimbursement of program service fees.

Collaborate with management staff on the preparation of a mid-year revision based on actual revenues and expenses through the first half of the fiscal year. Revise program goals and objectives as necessary based on the budget revision.

Prepare the Annual Gala financial report following the gala event. Include all gala-related donations and expenses. Present the report to management staff and the Board of Directors.

Prepare ad hoc analyses and reports as requested by the Executive Director or the Director of Marketing/Administration.

Assist the organization’s CPA with the year-end closeout. Prepare all statements and supporting documentation as required by the CPA. Place all current year revenues that need to be carried forward to cover expenses in the next fiscal year in Deferred Revenue. The CPA will prepare the IRS Form 990, annual financial statements and Audit Letter.

Present a summary of the IRS Form 990, annual financial statements and the Audit Letter to the Executive Director, Board Chairperson and Board Treasurer after receipt of the final documents from the CPA.

Prepare financial policies and procedures as needed for the organization in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Support financial decision-making by investigating, collecting, analyzing and reporting financial data to management staff.

Respond to financial inquiries by gathering, summarizing and interpreting data as needed.

Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director and the Director of Marketing/Administration.

Skills and Qualifications:

Knowledge of accounting and financial management policies, principles and procedures.

Minimum of three years using QuickBooks to manage an organization’s accounting system. Must be able to post all income and expense transactions, perform report generation, and assist with year-end closeout.

Extremely well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines for budgets, reports, and other projects as assigned.

Comfortable working with a diverse management team and staff.

This is a volunteer position.

Description

Serving all of greater Hampton Roads, Virginia, we have created a community within our organization that helps to build self esteem and supports youth so they can grow up into competent, healthy people and develop to their fullest potential. TWP peer leaders are first trained to facilatate community events; monthly open mics and community activist and volunteerism. Next, they decide, based on their time in with the organization and their personal talents and interest which area of youth development they want to focus on. Music, Spoken Word, Drama, Dance, Operations and Administration. Then they work with our youth advisory board to execute current programs and deliver new innovative ways to promote positive growth for youth. Our work takes us to schools, churchers, group homes, public community events and national events as well. Youth peer facilitators receive incentives such as cultural outings, tee shirts and back packs; they are invited to attend monathly group sessions and there are weekly training and prepartion meetings held in Norfolk and Virginia Beach
