Kids Incorporated of the Big Bend

Kids Incorporated is seeking passionate community members and students to volunteer in our classrooms with the children we serve, ages 0-3. You will communicate directly with lead teachers to help assist with the daily activities of the classroom.

Volunteers will work in a classroom environment assisting teachers with:

  • Classroom Participation: Playing with children, talking to them, showing them how to properly use supplies, and teaching them how to play games.
  • Hygiene: Helping children wash their hands and use tissues or paper towels properly, reminding them to cover their mouths when coughing, and to keep things out of their mouth.
  • Reinforce proper behavior: Teach children to share and play nicely or redirecting their focus if there is an argument.
  • Comfort children when they are upset or crying by hugging, holding or rocking them.

Volunteers can choose any of our of Early Head Start locations.

Volunteers must be at least 12 years of age and meet the standards set forth by the Department of Children and Families (DCF). Those not completing hours for school credit will be limited to 10 hours per month of direct service with the children, in accordance with DCF regulations.

Mission Statement

Mission: Supporting and educating families and young children through quality early learning, health and family services. Vision: All families and children reach their full potential.

Description

Kids Incorporated of the Big Bend is the only community-based organization providing quality, comprehensive services and shaping futures of at-risk families with children ages 0-3 and pregnant women in Jefferson, Leon & Madison counties, Florida.

Founded in 1972 by the late Budd Bell, a community volunteer with a master's in social work, Budd recognized the need for affordable, high quality early learning programs for families with young children. Our name and our services have evolved over the years, but one constant remains: to best serve a child, we must serve the family.
