ORGANIZATION: English for New Bostonians

As of September 1, 2019, an internship position will be open at Gilbert Albert Community Center. It is a five hours commitment a day. The individual will work 20 hours a week his role and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Meet and Greet Incoming Students and provide placement and Guidance
  • Attend staff meeting
  • Literacy Survey, Intake form/Interview Administrative work
  • Ensure all English for new Bostonians Reporting is accurate and Up-to-date (All grant reports)
  • Seek alternative funding opportunities for the agency evening and summer programming
  • Verify and follow up with ENB correspondence and emails (intern /AmeriCorps members)
  • Create strong community partnerships and support other ESOL and community organizations
  • Maintain and update Facebook page, Website, Giving Common and Outreach
  • Attend events as necessary to create partnership and represent GACC
  • Ensure attendance policy is enforced and waitlist students are honored
  • Provide support for teachers as needed
  • Expand university connections and volunteer opportunities
  • Communicate with Executive Director regularly
This is a one year intern position from September to June end of the year celebration, Final Report. The schedule time is 9:00AM to 2:00PM Monday to Thursday. We are flexible also to accommodate schedule accordingly.

Description

English for New Bostonians (ENB) is a public-private-community collaboration addressing the urgent need for increased English language learning opportunities for adult immigrants in Boston. Comprised of the City of Boston, foundations, corporations, non-profits, and community organizations, ENB works to support high-quality, accessible ESOL programs; to expand Boston’s capacity to serve English language learners; to test new strategies to reach learners at home, in the community, and at work; to encourage new investment by diverse stakeholders; to heighten awareness about the importance of adult English language learning; and to support the development of a coordinated ESOL system in Boston.
