Certtified PET THERAPY - Are you the proud family member of a sweet, calm, loving dog, cat, bird, horse, etc., that has been certified as a Pet Therapy Pet? Would you and your pet like to put a smile on the face of someone who is ill? Visiting with a pet is very therepeutic for our patients, who have a life limiting illness. Animals provide loving, non-judgemental social support for the terminally ill. Often, the patients have had to give up their own pet to move to a nursing home or other care facility and they miss that companionship. As a team, you and your pet can bring a little bit of that back. Hospice Touch cares for patients throughout Orange County, the greater Long Beach Area, and Los Angeles. Assignments are made according to where the volunteer lives. Free Hospice Volunteer Training is typically provided in our office in Santa Ana. Assignments are mad within 10-15 miles of where the volunteer lives. All pets MUST be certified through a pet therapy organization before visiting with patients.

Description
Remita Health provides end of life care to persons who can no longer benefit from curative treatment. The typical hospice patient has a life expectancy of six months or less. Most receive care at home. Some reside in nursing homes or assisted living. Services are provided by a team of trained professionals-physicians, nurses,counselors,therapists, social workers, aides and volunteers- who provide medical care and support services not only to the patient, but to the patient's family and loved ones.
