On-Call disaster dispatch volunteers act as the first point of contact for the Red Cross to assist victims of disaster. Volunteers must be able answer their phone to dispatch disaster responders who will help to meet the immediate emergency needs of families affected by disasters. Dispatch volunteers have the ability to volunteer from home; volunteers should be comfortable and have access to computers as they will help to complete casework for each disaster response. These volunteers may be responsible for any of the following:
- Receiving disaster notifications and dispatching responders
- Documenting activity associated with disaster response
- Working with the Red Cross to develop response plans and provide feedback
- Provide support to members on the field remotely when needed
