Tagalog Speaking Female Friendly Visitor Volunteer Needed in Long Beach

ORGANIZATION: Volunteer Action for Aging

A very nice 79 year old senior woman who lives in a private home in Long Beach would enjoy the companionship of a bi-lingual Tagalog/English speaking female Friendly Visitor Volunteer. This lovely woman lives with her family in Long Beach but she is alone during the weekdays because her family works full time and she is confined to her home due to health challenges. She reports that she would enjoy conversation with a volunteer who speaks Tagalog. She speaks English but feels more comfortable in her native language.

She would like to take walks in the neighborhood, exchange stories, and develop a caring companionship with a Tagalog speaking female volunteer. There is no personal care or housework duties expected. We are just asking for a kind and friendly Tagalog speaking volunteer to offer 1 hour per week to this senior in her home.

It might be fun to try playing cards, doing puzzles or both of you learning some new way to enjoy an activity together. A visit of 1 hour per week is expected but more time is always available at the convenience of the volunteer and senior.

Our agency is Volunteer Action for Aging, a Community Service division of SCAN Health Plan. We coordinate a Friendly Visitor program to assist isolated, lonely seniors in their home. Our Friendly Visitor program is free of charge. Take Action Today! Give me a call, or send me an email to get the details. You are NEEDED!
