Bi-Lingual Korean Speaker? A Lonely Senior Needs You in Santa Ana

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Volunteer Action for Aging

It is so rewarding to offer companionship to a lovely monolingual Korean speaking woman who is 83 years old. She lives alone in her own apartment in a senior building in Santa Ana. She is intelligent and engaging but unfortunately she is alone most of the time due to her family members living in other states and being busy with their lives.

This very nice lady has been waiting for a Volunteer for over 6 months. Please offer your kindness and caring.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a Korean speaking female. The senior's schedule is very flexible. She is home almost all of the time, weekdays and weekends. No personal care or housekeeping duties involved.

She would enjoy telling you her stories and hearing yours. She loves dancing but doesn't dance much anymore. She would like to chat, take a walk with the volunteer, or maybe even get some help with using functions on her cell phone.

She still cooks her own Korean cuisine. Maybe the volunteer can get some cooking tips or share recipes.

This opportunity is offered through Volunteer Action for Aging, a community service of SCAN Health Plan. This is a free service to the Los Angeles and Orange County senior community members who may feel isolated and lonely due to a variety of reasons.

A person that volunteers for this position will find it rewarding, involving, and will provide a great opportunity to engage with a senior in the Korean speaking community.

Please contact us at scan.samaritan.com to complete an application or contact Teri Hershberg at
