ORGANIZATION: Washington Regional Hospice

Did you know that you can be a hospice volunteer even if you're not interested in working directly with Hospice patients?

WE HAVE A PLACE FOR YOU AT WASHINGTON REGIONAL HOSPICE!

Washington Regional Hospice is currently adding to our administrative and bereavement volunteer team!

We have the following volunteer positions open:

  • Assisting with answering telephone calls. This would be on an "as needed" basis when staff is in meetings, on vacation, or we need back up due to staff being out for illness, etc. We will provide orientation / training on the phones and then contact you if there is a need once you have been through the training. The need could be for a few hours or a full day depending on the situation and your availability. This is a rewarding position because you are helping Hospice patients, families, nurses, and other members of the community relay important and helpful information with patience and kindness.

  • Assisting with scanning documents and uploading documents to patient’s electronic medical record. This opening would be perfect for someone who (1) enjoys computer work (2) enjoys detail (3) is available 1 - 5 days per week for 1 hr per day. Solid training will be provided and there will be an administrative staff member available for questions and support after training. Again, if you are available for 1 day a week or 5 days a week, we welcome your help, every hour is appreciated!

  • Assisting with monthly bereavement newsletter mailings. This would be perfect for a small group of 3-4 volunteers who could come into our office for a full day once a month to organize, label, fold, and prepare monthly mailings to be sent to our bereaved families. These mailings offer very much needed support and encouragement to our Hospice families. Our goal is to form a volunteer group who will commit to this project on a long term basis. For instance, this might be something a small church group of friends may be interested in taking on.

Please contact the Volunteer Program Manager for information - thank you!
