HCEF delivers educational after-school programming to children living in housing support shelters throughout Pittsburgh. Volunteers will assist HCEF after-school instructors one day per week as they provide tutoring, homework help, literacy activities, and a variety of enrichment programs to students ranging from grade K - 5.
Programs take place at multiple partner locations; each has a different start/end time, but all run for 2 hours between 3 PM and 6 PM.

Our mission is to advance the education of children and youth experiencing homelessness, guiding them to be productive, empowered citizens. As a national model for addressing the educational needs of unstably-housed children and youth, HCEF leads a collaborative effort among regional partners by providing educational programs and services in Allegheny County and advocating for policy and system improvement.
Description
Volunteers with the Homeless Children's Education Fund provide direct service to the children and youth in our programs through tutoring and mentoring. They help with special events and in the office and advocate for them through our outreach efforts throughout Allegheny County.
