Friends of Sammamish Library is looking for book lovers to help with our biggest used book sale of the year October 12-13. Funds raised help pay for more than 50 library programs each year.

Volunteer needs:

  • Friday, October 11: Book sale set up. Tasks include setting up tables, unpacking books and merchandising them for the weekend sale. We'll provide snacks and drinks. We request a two-hour shift (or longer if you can!) between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Bonus: Volunteers get first pick of the thousands of titles we'll be selling!
  • Saturday and Sunday, October 12-13: Book sale days! Tasks include greeting and helping customers, and keeping tables organized. We request a two-hour shift (or longer) between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday and/or 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
  • Monday, October 14: Book sale take down and clean up. Tasks include sorting unsold books, packing them up, and taking down tables. We request signing up for at least a two-hour shift between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. We'll provide lunch and drinks. Bonus: Volunteers get a last chance to buy books before they're packed away!

We are in special need of volunteers who speak Mandarin, Japanese, Russian, Hindi, Spanish, French and other languages to help identify and sort our world language book donations.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Groups welcome!

Friends of the Sammamish Library are a dedicated group of community members who support and advocate for our library. We sponsor and supplement many of the programs the library offers for kids, teens and adults with funds we raise through a year-round book sale, book auctions, and a large annual used book sale each fall.

Description

Friends of Sammamish Library Friends sponsors more than 50 programs and special events at the library each year. Please join us! We meet at 6:15 p.m. the first Thursday of each month.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 16
  • Time commitment is up to you! Help for a two-hour shift, all weekend long, or anything in between. Our biggest volunteer need is during the book sale set up on Friday and clean up on Monday.
  • We'd love to have some volunteers who are capable of lifting heavy boxes of books, but this is definitely not a requirement.
