Fayette Fest is a family-oriented event held each year at The Red Mile. There will be harness racing; live music; shopping; food trucks; a beer garden; kid activities; equine education; dog events; and a KY Proud Market. Fayette Fest is Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m.

The Maker's Mark Secretariat Center will have a booth set up in the equine education section and we will have horseshoes for kids to paint and decorate. We need volunteers to help with:
- Booth set-up and tear-down
- Getting kids set up with horseshoes, paint and other materials
- Helping kids with decorating, if needed
- Telling kids about Thoroughbreds and letting them dress up in jockey silks for photo ops by their parents

If you are interested in helping at this event, please email us at mmsecretariatcenter@gmail.com.

About Maker's Mark Secretariat Center

Location:

Maker's Mark Secretariat Center, 4089 Iron Works Parkway, Lexington, KY 40511, US

Mission Statement

The Maker's Mark Secretariat Center was founded as a showcae and re-training facility for Thoroughbred ex-racehorses. We believe that abuse, abandonment and slaughter are not appropriate means of treatment for horses who have reached the end of their racing careers. We provide these horses with a chance for re-training for second careers. We also exist to raise awareness of the ex-racehorse's plight.

Description

Here at the MMSC, we take in horses from rescue agencies, private owners and trainers around the country for re-schooling and adoption. We are a 22-acre facility located within the Kentucky Horse Park, and are designed to house as many as 10-12 horses at a time. We seek the soundest, sanest horses from off the track in order to demonstrate the versatility of the Thoroughbred breed.
