Looking for someone who wants a fulfilling volunteer opportunity where as a volunteer Medicare Counselor you help people and enrich your mind. Problem solving is a part of this. You will occasionally counsel people who are in the "having to choose between food and medicine" category. You will be armed with resources that generally can lower the costs of their medications.

You will be volunteering for the North Carolina Department of Insurance SHIIP (Seniors' Health Insurance Information Program) program. It provides cost-free, objective Medicare counseling to people of all ages. For example, a person under age 65 who is on Disability for 2 years goes on Medicare.

You receive online training, in house training and quarterly training sessions. Medicare can seem complex, but with training and a little time, it gets easy to understand how it works and simplify it for others.

You will primarily counsel at the McGirt-Horton Library at 2501 Phillips Ave in Greensboro. You will train at other locations in Greensboro and have the opportunity to counsel at them.
