SOS

SOS Site Leaders are entrusted with a great responsibility of being mindful to monitor students who volunteer for our community events. We must keep each student’s safety and wellbeing at the forefront while providing service opportunities.

Volunteer Site Leaders must complete a training course. At volunteer events, arrive at volunteer site at least 15 to 20 minutes early, have the student roster printed, and make sure students are aware of their responsibilities. At your service event, ensure that you are wearing an SOS Site Lead shirt. Take pictures and send them to SOS leadership for social media posts. Stay until the last student has gotten picked up by their parents.

MUST pass a background check and attend training prior to volunteering.

Attend a minimum of 4 volunteer events each year.

Mission Statement

Students of Service (SOS) is dedicated to education through service and travel by providing students with the opportunity to learn abroad in order to better their own communities and serve back home.

Description

SOS is working to strengthen and deepen student’s understanding and knowledge of the world. To do this students ranging from 6th-12th grades, from different walks of life will form a core group. The group will meet with the SOS leader who will guide them through service projects, team-building and leadership exercises, cross-cultural understanding, and conflict resolution skills, and practical training on travel and safety abroad. These experiences tie in with what kids are learning in the classroom. All of this culminates with an educational trip abroad in the summer that inspires students to come home and bring more positive change to our community.
