Utilize your creative talents by facilitating a weekly art group for individuals diagnosed with dementia.
When: A weekly ongoing session during the weekdays (Monday-Friday)
Where: Care communities throughout the Denver area
Who: Those who want to help people with dementia communicate through art
In coordination with a trained care center staff person, the Memories in the Making facilitator plans and facilitates a weekly art group for individuals diagnosed with dementia. Some art background preferred. Understanding of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease is helpful, as is a sensitivity to the feelings of others and the ability to read body language. Facilitator must not be a direct caretaker to a participant in the group. Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. Bilingual skills welcome. One-day training is offered several times a year. Groups meet once a week (consistency is important); commitment is usually about 2 hours each week.
