More Than a Bed is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide essential items to foster, kinship, and adoptive families for the children in their homes because every child deserves to be valued. We have various events throughout the year and this one, although a lot of fun for the children we serve, allows a break for the caregivers.
Parents Night Out provides care for 130+ children whose caregivers enjoy a well-deserved 4 1/2 hour break. We are searching for energic people who love children; those with a heart to play, laugh, and play more. Children are ages newborn to 12 years old.
We are looking for assistance in the following areas:
~ Set-up (1-4pm)
~ Escort children to their classrooms/dinner afterward (3:45 pm - 7:30 pm)
~ Supervise children in their classrooms (4 pm - 9 pm)
~ People who don't have a time commitment and can stay the whole time (3 pm - 10 pm)
We have a well-planned evening for the children in attendance. The children will all be assigned a classroom specific to their ages/needs. They are expected to stay in the classrooms unless going to a certain area of the building for that event (magician, storytime, face painting, outdoor activity, dinner to name a few). The caregivers will arrive by 4 pm and will pick up their children at 9 pm. We will need help cleaning up afterward.
If you can only volunteer a couple of hours, please don't pass this up. We'll find a task for you!

Description
More Than a Bed was established in September 2014. We are a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization and are a Christian resource center for foster and adoptive families. Our vision is to inspire the community to get involved in the life of a foster child and support the family providing care. To encourage new families to be licensed and existing families to remain licensed with the goal of every child in Pima County and its surrounding areas to have a safe place to call home.
In our 5,000 sq ft warehouse we provide clothing, shoes, bedding, baby items, school items, books, cribs, toys, household items for the families to come in and shop for free for the items they need to provide for the child/children placed in their care. Through grants we purchase items much needed including cribs, twin and toddler beds, bunk beds, diapers and underwear. We believe every child should feel valued, so by helping the families get the essential needs for the children we hope we are accomplishing this.
